Event Hosted by RWTH Aachen University
In November 2022, RWTH Aachen University hosted an information/networking event “RDM Compass – the RWTH ship on NFDI course”. The event was part of the Tag der Forschungsdaten (Research Data Day) in NRW. NFDI4Chem was there and held flash talks in two parallel sessions.
In the session “Metadata, Ontologies and Standards”, we presented our findings on the requirements of journal guidelines. Here, we surveyed the author guidelines and policies of various chemical research journals regarding FAIR and open data practices. A manuscript on the topic has been submitted to Pure and Applied Chemistry.
Furthermore, in the session “Training and Awareness”, we emphasised our broad approach to promote data literacy. That addresses researchers at all career stages, from undergraduate to professorship, and at all levels of research data management (RDM), from novice to data steward. In that framework, the entire data life cycle is covered and the use of electronic laboratory notebooks, especially the ELN Chemotion, plays a particularly important role.
